Pokemon Go has reached a new milestone recently, as announced by Niantic Labs during the Google Developer Day. The company said that their augmented reality game has already recorded 650 Million downloads in less than a year since its official launch. Meanwhile, Niantic announced that they would be releasing a series of major updates for the game throughout the year to celebrate the success.
According to The Bitbag, John Hanke, CEO of Niantic Labs, mentions that players will expect three major Pokemon Go updates this year. Although, he did not provide further details about what's coming. However, several players are still hoping that one of these will be the Pokemon Go Gen 2 Ultra Rare Pokemon.
Previously, Niantic rolled out the generation 2 patch, which brought 80 new Pokemon to the game for players to catch. It includes all the Pokemon from the Johto Region found in the previous Pokemon games such as Gold, Silver and Crystal. The highlight of the new Pokemon Gen 2 patch is the arrival of two new evolutions of Eevee named Umbreon and Espeon. Furthermore, there is also a new set of Pokemon that brings diversity during gym battles such as Tyranitar, Blissey, Steelix and Scizor.
Meanwhile, Pokemon Go appears to be decent recently. However, fans still missing something and these are the Legendary ones. Though there are series of reports regarding the arrival of these Pokemon, however, nothing has been confirmed until now. Previously, there are reports of the very first Legendary Pokemon but its captivity remains unclear.
Beyond these Ultra Rare Pokemon and Legendaries, several players have other predictions of what's coming in Pokemon Go. Apparently, all of these predictions had been heavily rumored since last year. These are the Trading and PvP battle features. Both Trading and PvP are essential features in the franchise since they are present to all previous Pokemon games. Also, if these features will arrive in Pokemon Go, it might bring a huge impact on the game and possibly revive its enormous playerbase.
In another news, Pokemon Go's Pokemon Day Event is currently running. Catch the exclusive Party-Hat Pikachu, which will be available in the wild until March 6 at 1 PM PST.
