AMD Ryzen Patches And Developer Support Will Improve Gaming Performance Says CEO

The new AMD Ryzen processors generally live up to their promise but according to early reviews, they fall short on one aspect - gaming performance. The CEO of AMD assures everyone that the issue is only temporary.

Dr. Lisa Su, CEO of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., entertained questions during an "Ask Me Anything" session on Reddit. One of the more interesting issues brought up was the processors' rather poor gaming performance. It was expected that the new Ryzen CPUs would perform well gaming-wise considering its impressive specs were intended for serious gamers and other users who require high performance from their CPUs. As Hot Hardware reported, Su stressed that the issue is temporary and is expected to be resolved as developers get to know the processor a bit more. Some industry experts find it baffling that people are already questioning Ryzen's performance with just a few days tucked under its belt. Those in the know are fully aware that a new product whether hardware, software or firmware, needs at least a few months to become truly optimized.

AMD is optimistic that the issue will die a natural death once developers optimize games and apps for its hardware. In fact, an estimated 300 developers including Creative Assembly and Oxide Games are already working with the new AMD Ryzen processors. This fact backs Su's claim that the supposed issue with gaming performance will be resolved in time.

Venture Beat noted that AMD has fallen behind Intel, the current industry leader, in recent years, particularly in the high-end sector. The company has been forced to focus on the market for cheaper or budget low-end processors. The semiconductor company based in Sunnydale, Calif. released its new line-up of processors a few days ago and is hoping that its latest line of high-end processors based on Zen architecture will at least compete with its rival's products. The AMD Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7, in particular, are expected to challenge Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs. Aside from the new processors, AMD also released a rebooted drive suite last December in the new Crimson ReLive Edition.
