The third season of the time-travel themed romantic drama, "Outlander," is yet to premiere later this year, but lead stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe recently shared some plot details. The duo appeared at the Emerald City Comicon where they answered queries about their characters. The two hinted on their reunion somewhere in the season, and fans will see countless intimate scenes as promised by the actors.
"Outlander" season 3 has been revealed to pick up from the events where season 2 left off. Jamie wakes up from the Battle of Culloden not knowing what happened while Claire goes back to the 20th century with Frank. Fans of the drama will witness how time separated lovers, Claire and Jamie, lived their lives without each other. However, it has also been teased that the installment will heavily highlight the reunion of Claire and Jamie and how the couple will take their relationship to a higher level.
Actress Caitriona Balfe recently teased during the Comicon on March 3 how her character strived to survive with her daughter Brianna while actor Sam Heughan revealed how he Jamie continued his life without Claire. Changes are bound to come their characters' personalities most especially to Jamie who will try to reconstruct his life to become his old self again.
The two were also asked if the series is leaning towards the story arc of its source material, and the stars nodded in agreement. Given such information, the "Outlander" season 3 will depict Diana Gabaldon's "Voyager" where Claire will travel back in time to mend the gap between her and Jamie. As they were separated 20 years, the couple will make up for the lost time.
Despite their old age, Jamie and Claire will still grow closer with each other even in the flesh which was also revealed by Caitriona. "I think if anything, when Jamie and Claire get together again, their love is timeless and who they are inside is timeless," the actress said in an interview at the 12th Annual Oscar Wilde Awards.
"Outlander" season 3 is set to premiere in September 2017 on Starz.
