Final Fantasy XV is the latest game to come out of the Final Fantasy franchise. The innovative gameplay and fascinating storyline, which was coupled with an interesting group of characters, Final Fantasy XV enjoyed many praises from the gaming community. So with a lot of interest, more and more players are asking a deeper backstory for the members of the group.
About Episode Gladiolus
According to Polygon, Haruyoshi Sawatari, the Main Producer of Final Fantasy XV DLCs said that, if player and fans remember that on an early part of the game, a flashback where Gladiolus was badly beaten by Ravus was shown. The defeat creates a big problem for Gladiolus in which he then separates from the group for a short time, and this is where the DLC starts.
Additionally, 30 years before the beginning of the story, an ancient ruin was discovered. This is where all past Crownsguard and shields of the King underwent a trial. Sawatori mentions that after his defeat from Ravus, Gladiolus creates a reflection that he isn't strong enough nor good enough yet. So he decides to undertake the trial in order to get the power he needs to be the protector of the king.
The DLC will cover the whole time Gladiolus was alone. It would also show how he got the big and obvious scar on his face during his battle against the blademaster, Gilgamesh.
More About Episode Gladiolus And More
In an interview with Gamespot, Sawatari mentions more about the upcoming DLC and the future of Final Fantasy XV. When asked about Gladiolus' play style, Sawatari says that his style is more on the action and in getting there. He goes on to say that Gladiolus is the shield of the king but he is not necessarily a tank. The DLC focuses on both offense and defense. It's where the player needs to take advantage of both aspects to do really well. For example, when players defend against attacks, Gladiolus' rage increases, and his rage is the attack multiplier. The higher the rage goes, the higher Gladiolus' attack output becomes.
Furthermore, Sawatari was asked if the DLC will contain new opponents or bosses that are not seen in the original game. He goes on to say that Gilgamesh can be seen waiting in the ruins to fight the player in the Episode Gladiolus DLC trailer. Long-time fans and players of Final Fantasy might have an idea what Gilgamesh looks like, however, this is the Gilgamesh of Final Fantasy XV in which he is considered as a blademaster. In turn, he is a boss that's not included in the original game.
Aside from all the previously announced DLCs, Sawatari mentions that they don't have anything else planned. However, this year is all about giving back to the community who has supported the franchise. So if they were to continue the DLC, they would ask for feedback from the gaming community.
Episode Gladiolus will be released on March 28 on the PS4 and Xbox One. In addition, players who finishes the DLC would get to see a teaser trailer for the next DLC titled "Episode Prompto". Episode Prompto is expected to be released sometime this coming June.
