2018 Mercedes A-Class: Here's The Latest Offering

As a new generation of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class compact hatch is currently on the works, the renowned car manufacturer have recently revealed that the said model will allegedly use a longer wheelbase and feature a roofline that extends further back into a more vertically-angled tailgate as compared to the model that the company has today. That said, although the study that has previewed a new A-Class sedan was confirmed to still be in the works, a significant number of car experts said that its front section should closely resemble the design used on the A-Class hatch. Based on the spy videos and shots that have been circulating, experts said that the proportion match those of the current A-Class hatch; so what's new?

The 2018 Mercedes A-Class

According to reports revealed by Motor Authority, as evidenced by the stretched rear doors, it seemingly looks like the wheelbase would be longer. Consequently, it was found that this should result in some much- needed space in the cabin, which, on the other hand, is believed to have an integrated central screen with the dash instead of attaching it on as in the current model. Another notable change with the new A-Class is said to be the positioning of the side mirrors, since they are mounted on the doors instead of higher up at the base of the A-pillars, which will then result in an improved visibility.

Furthermore, as per Auto Car, reliable sources say that the large interior is also set to feature an even luxurious and expensive-looking materials, as well as Mercedes' latest infotainment system, with top-spec models which is likely getting a widescreen display. Speaking of its interior, it was found that the 2018 Mercedes A-Class will allegedly set the bar very high in the compact sector as the fit and finish of the cabin would also be improved, with strong competition from Audi and its Virtual Cockpit dash layout, which will soon be offered in smaller models. In addition, the new A-Class will gain an updated range of turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, and there's also a chance hybrid technology will be integrated into the range later on.

Updated Features

Meanwhile, as part of Mercedes's push for a larger electric range, known for currently featuring the EV versions of its B-Class and Smart models, the new A-Class design will expectedly gain an updated range of turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Additionally, it was found that there will also be a chance hybrid technology which will be integrated into the range later on. Unfortunately, car experts said that due to low demand for this particular body style in the premium segment, and despite the updated features and technology, the new A-Class hatch will not be seen in the United States.
