Niantics seems to have plans for new event update for Pokémon GO. The company's CEO, John Hanke, revealed some information during the SXSW Conference and Festivals in Austin confirming that Niantic is working on some new ideas for their augmented reality game. However, fans are still wondering whether they will be getting the Legendary Birds in 2017.
Pokémon GO Update Gym Revamp
Although Niantic CEO John Hanke confirmed that they were working on fresh ideas for their augmented reality game Pokémon GO, he didn't specifically say what they were. Fans were talking about the much-needed gym battle revamp, that either needs a major overhaul before the Legendary Birds come or will ban the Legendary Birds from holding a gym. Hopeful fans didn't get an answer about the needed change of the gym system but they will settle for a follow-up to the Festive Pikachu run.
As much as it disappoints fans, it appears Pokémon GO's next event will involve new hats for Pikachu again. Still, data mining teams are on the prowl for any hint of how Niantic will finally change the unbalanced system in Gym Battles. Niantic already confirmed that changing the gym system is going to be the next major update for Pokémon GO but it appears they don't have the technology to connect long distance points on maps.
This is according to a post in the Pokémon GO Hub site. Niantic's CTO Phil Keslin accidentally leaked the information saying that Pokémon GO can't have team based objectives as they do in Ingress. Gyms can't link or connect to other gyms. How Niantic will revamp the gym system is anyone's guess.
Legendary Birds Coming To Pokémon GO This Year
No matter how Niantic will go about changing the Gym System in Pokémon GO, they need to do it with the Legendary Birds in mind or else there will be no more diversity in gyms. According to Brimingham Mail, the much-anticipated Legendary Pokémon will be coming to the game this year. If they really are coming to Pokémon GO then Niantic needs to find a way to fix the gym system this year in the game.
