Wrestlemania is the biggest event that the WWE holds each year. Although it has become a household name, the matches are one of a kind, and the matches for this year are all well planned but for one supposed match, it was going to be one of a kind.
The Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels' persona as HBK in the WWE has been one of the best. Boasting a total of being a four-time World Champion, three times WWF Champion and a one-time World Heavyweight Champion. He would also go on to lead the famous group D-Generation X alongside Triple H.
Michaels first started wrestling for the WWE in 1988 where he was with tag team partner Marty Jannetty as The Rockers. Although the duo would go on to win the tag team championships, the two would eventually split apart which would give rise to the villain in Shawn Michaels. Michaels would then adopt the suggested on the screen name of Heart Break Kid, which turned out to be quite a success.
As such, Michaels was given his first Wrestlemania match at Wrestlemania VIII against Tito Santana, where he would go on to defeat the latter. On the course of the coming years, Michaels developed a very large following of fans and viewers and would come to achieve multiple feats that are incomparable today.
According to Bleacher Report, Michaels retired after he was defeated by The Undertaker at Wrestlemania XXVI. However, Michaels would still go on to appear from time to time at WWE. And now, another shocking news has come.
Shawn Michaels Offered A Match At Wrestlemania 33
According to Uproxx, the Heart Break Kid was offered a match at Wrestlemania 33 against AJ Styles. In a podcast interview with Sam Roberts, Michaels would go on to detail how he ended up with the fairy tale offer.
During the interview, Michaels would go on to say that he's going to reveal something to Roberts, although he wasn't sure if he was allowed to do so. He says that the WWE didn't have an opponent against AJ Styles at Wrestlemania. He said before that he hasn't been asked about this because he hasn't been, but then he was asked and that the match could've been his. Although, Michaels would mention that he honestly wishes that AJ was present 10 years ago so that it would've been possible for a match. He would then go on to say that he honestly thinks about this and comments that AJ is really talented.
On the other hand, despite being turned down by Michaels, AJ would still be going up against another legend, the prodigal son, Shane McMahon. Wrestlemania 33 would take place at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on April 2.
