Samsung Galaxy S8 Latest Leak Bares Around 25 Features And Press Images

A few more days and the world will finally get a glimpse of the highly-anticipated and not-so-secret Samsung Galaxy S8. Despite the nearness of its launch, even more supposed secrets of the flagship smartphone have been leaked. In fact, a total of 25 features can be gathered from the leak.

WinFuture, a German Tech site, is the culprit this time. Aside from leaking the specs and other features, WinFuture also published a series of photos showing the Galaxy S8 in full glory. Forbes got wind of the leak which confirms many of the long-rumored features of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy S8 measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0mm and weighs 151 grams. Both models will have external speakers. As for the color, the handsets will come in Black, Gold, Silver, Blue and Orchid Gray at launch.

Display

The Galaxy S8 will sport a 5.8-inch display while the S8 Plus will come with a 6.2-inch display. The displays of both Galaxy S8 variants will have 18.5:9 aspect ratios and Full HD. As rumored, the flagship smartphones will sport curved OLED displays and will ditch the physical home button. The display will remain IP68 water and dust resistant.

Performance

Samsung will finally unveil Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 in the U.S., Japan and China. The handsets will use the Exynos 8895 chipset for the rest of the world. Interestingly, the new leak said that the Galaxy S8 will only come with 4GB of RAM though there are still rumors that indicate a 6GB variant may still come.

Storage

Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will have 64GB of UFS 2.0 storage. They will also have microSD slots that will allow memory expansion up to 256GB.

Camera

The rear cameras of the Galaxy S8 stay at 12 megapixels, the same as its predecessor. It does come with an f1/7 aperture, OIS and laser autofocus. The front facing camera has been upgraded to 8MP from 5MP.

Battery

The biggest question for Samsung is if there will be a repeat of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Hopefully, the 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries of the S8 and S8 Plus, respectively, will prove safe. The odds are high that they are since the same sized batteries were used in the S7 and S7 Edge. The Galaxy S8 will also have faster wireless charging, according to the leak.

Connectivity and Ports

The upcoming Samsung flagship devices will have dual-band gigabit Wi-Fi support and Bluetooth 4.2. Samsung copies other companies by ditching the microUSB for the USB Type-C port. After numerous rumors dillydallying on whether the 3.5mm jack will stay or go, the latest leak says it is here to stay.

Security

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will have fingerprint scanners that can recognize gestures which are a great addition. What is not great is that the scanner has been moved beside the camera where some people may find t hard to access. Each model is also protected by an iris scanner which is located in the front.

Accessories

The Samsung Desktop Experience or DeX Station, also dubbed the "Next Mobile Workplace", will be offered for both versions. Samsung will also offer optional warranty for the devices called Guard S8. The warranty provides owners with one screen repair for free, remote support via live chats on the smartphone itself, and a promise to repair the handsets in two hours depending on the location.

Price

For many, the biggest question is, "Can I afford the new Samsung Galaxy S8?" That depends on whether the buyer has at least $799 to spare. The price jacks up to $949 depending on whether the buyer is getting the more premium S8 Plus or not.
