The first Batman: Arkham Origins trailer has landed online and yes, it's pretty sweet. For fans of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, it looks like Origins is shaping up as another solid entry in the series.
While the Batman: Arkham Origins trailer does not show any gameplay footage, it features a compelling fight scene involving Batman, Deathstroke and Black Mask that seems to set up what will likely be the game's central storyline. In the trailer, Batman dispatches a gang of thugs inside some kind of warehouse only to discover that they've planted a bomb seconds away from detonation. Batman barely escapes the explosion and is met outside by Deathstroke. The two then engage in a fight sequence worthy of Christopher Nolan, but are interrupted by Black Mask, who uses his sniper rifle to destroy Deathstroke's sword –– wanting to get his own crack at Batman.
While the trailer doesn't offer much in terms of what it will actually be like to play the game, WB Games has offered some tantalizing bits of information regarding the first Batman Arkham: Origins DLC, which will be made available to anyone who preorders the title:
"Deathstroke will come complete with his own unique weapons and special moves, and will be playable in all challenge maps in the game, as well as two additional challenge maps that will be included with the pack. The pack will also contain two alternate Deathstroke character skins," the studio said.
Batman: Arkham Origins is slated for release on October 25 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC. While a PS4 and Xbox 720 release of the title has been widely rumored, nothing has been confirmed yet.
