We reported that the AT&T version of the X Phone passed through the FCC a few weeks ago and yesterday we told you about the X Phone headed to Verizon possibly. The X Phone looks like it will be available on at least the three big carriers in the U.S., with Sprint's version just passing through the FCC.
We might actually be getting close to a launch of the much talked about X Phone. The AT&T X Phone had a model listing of Motorola XT1058 and Verizon's model was leaked in Motorola USB drivers with the XT1060 name. We now know that the smartphone will be making its way to Sprint as well.
Engadget is reporting that a new smartphone from Motorola carries the name Motorola XT1056. According to the FCC filing, the Motorola XT1056 has been certified for LTE Band 25, which is the same LTE band Sprint uses for its 4G LTE devices.
The Motorola XT1056 for Sprint will include NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 LE+EDR and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The FCC filing shows that the smartphone will have HSPA+ 21Mbps support for 2100, 1900, and 850MHz bands. Don't expect to be able to use the smartphone on a GSM network in the U.S., as the FCC documents also reveal the smartphone as being SIM-locked for all U.S. carriers.
The X Phone has been a highly anticipated smartphone. Rumors claimed the smartphone would be very advanced and a game changer and recently details from benchmarks revealed that the smartphone was actually a mid-range device with the specs to back it up. The X Phone will reportedly have a 720p display, not a FULL 1080p like most high-end Android smartphones. Its dual-core processor can't compete with the octa-core and quad-core processors found on most flagship Android smartphones like the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4.
Now we'll just have to wait to see when T-Mobile's variant passes through the FCC or gets leaked to make this story complete.
