Overwatch will be getting plenty of additions this year with one of them being new maps. On the other hand, Blizzard also plans on finding a way for deaf players to further enjoy the game.
New Maps Will Be Arriving Soon
Adding new content to video games is a great way for players to continue investing their time in the game while attracting potential consumers to get a copy. In the case of Blizzard's first-person shooter, it continues to support its popular IP by adding highly requested features like new heroes. Evidently enough, the developers continue to release new characters with different playstyles that affect the meta and the overall game.
That aside, Blizzard recently confirmed that it will also bring in more content later this year, specifically maps. Game director Jeff Kaplan took to the official forums telling fans that they current have three maps in development for both the Quick Play and Competitive types of play. He claimed that they have already passed through the initial playtesting and will most likely come to the game later this year.
He also teased that they have three "non-standard" maps in development that will not be playable in Quick Play or Competitive. With this in mind, these maps could either be for a new game mode or future events. Finally, Kaplan teased that the developers have "a few other experiments going on."
Overwatch Adding More Support For Other Players
Another thing Blizzard tries to do is make the game player-friendly for disabled fans. It has an option for colorblind players but lack major support for those with hearing disabilities. Luckily, PVP Live reports that the Uprising event is the first of its kind to support subtitles as the team now has the proper tech and systems to do so. Because of this, Kaplan stated that they plan to bring over this feature to the main game but has yet to share an official release date for it.
The developers continue to support Overwatch and will likely continue to do so judging by their dedication with their other games. For now, fans will have to wait for further details regarding upcoming content like new maps. Those who want to play the team shooter can grab a copy for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
