Injustice 2 will be collaborating with the upcoming Wonder Woman film by bringing in some new content. Meanwhile, the game was close to adding a certain hero before the developer decided to scrap the idea.
According to Twinfinite, NetherRealm will be holding a special event in the game to celebrate Wonder Woman's return to the big screen. The developer made the official announcement during a special charity live stream that had Rick Fox and Steve Aoki duking it out in the game.
On May 29, Injustice 2 players will be able to participate in a special Multiverse event to "end all wars." Those who manage to complete this will be rewarded with Wonder Woman gear that shares the design with her film counterpart. However, NetherRealm has yet to confirm if this special item is strictly cosmetic or if it will come with any upgrades.
Fans who want to partake in the event have until June 5 to complete the mission. Luckily, players can still earn the gear, but they will have to get it through Mother Boxes. Those who are playing the mobile game will get a similar-themed event which will give players access to two new character cards based on the movie.
That aside, SegmentNext shares that the hero Static almost made it to the game. Character designer Marco Nelor shared a concept art of the superhero that was almost finalized. However, he did not share the reason why the studio decided to drop his idea. The said hero has control over electromagnetic phenomena and can shoot electricity from his fingers.
His inclusion to the sequel was highly speculated with fans requesting he be part of the current game. One reason as to why he was not included could be that the game might be bringing in another lighting-based character, Raiden, to the sequel. Those who want to play Injustice 2 can get a copy for the PS4 and Xbox One.
