New Leak Hints Possibility Of 'Pokken' On Nintendo Switch

Pokken has become one of the more iconic fighting games on the Wii U when it was released. Could the Pokemon fighting game finally be making its way to the Nintendo Switch following a recent retailer leak?

According to Comicbook.com, one Japanese retailer might have leaked the fighting game remake or port for the hybrid console. Japanese blog Sinobi often posts new listings of upcoming video game products with one of them being a new arcade stick controller compatible for the Nintendo Switch. Interestingly enough, one of the games listed that could be used with the equipment was the Pokemon fighting game.

In spite of this, Nintendo Everything shares that the game has been since then removed from the listing. Nintendo has yet to confirm or mention anything about Pokken being ported to the Switch so fans should not get their hopes up.

The spinoff title was a surprise hit for the Wii U and quickly became one of the console's strongest selling games. It soon became widely popular for its combat and ideas but did not receive much support from either Nintendo nor developer Bandai Namco. The Japanese arcade version received some new characters and maps that unfortunately never made it to the console version.

The Switch would be the ideal platform if ever Nintendo plans to port over the iconic fighting game. Evident by Mario Kart 8, they clearly see no issues with migrating the Wii U's most popular games. Bringing in the spinoff would no doubt further spur the popularity of the Pokemon franchise and the Switch. This game could also be another way for Nintendo to further immerse themselves into the growing eSports scene.

Until then, fans will just have to wait for further announcements from either Nintendo or Bandai Namco ports. Those who want to play the original Pokken get a copy for the Wii U.
