Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 creator Bandai Namco has recently announced that it will make a new video game based on the same theme. The title of this new video game is Dragon Ball Fighters. Apparently, the publisher wants to release this game next year.
Bandai Namco made this announcement before the opening of E3 2017. That means die-hard fans of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will have a new game they could spend their combative energies on. Apparently, Dragon Ball Fighters will pit Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza against each other.
The Game Will Have Many Characters From The Dragon Ball Universe
A report indicated that Arc Systems Works will handle the game development of Dragon Ball Fighters. It seems that this video game will be a 2.5D, 3v3 fighter. Aside from the three main characters mentioned a while ago, the game developer says that the game will be populated by many characters in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
The 2.5D Animation Style Allows Broader Character Expressions
Arc Systems said that the 2.5D animation style of Dragon Ball Fighters will enable its characters to perform flashy super moves shown at cinematic camera angles. It appears that this is different from the other games that the developer has done before. Game producer Tomoko Hiroki claims that the 2.5D style will make possible a broader range of character expressions.
Gamers Can Determine Movement Synergies In The Game's 3x3 Nature
A press release from the game developer also indicates that the 3v3 nature of Dragon Ball Fighters will have assists just like those in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. In effect, gamers will be allowed to determine the compatibility between characters when forming a team. That means gamers will be able to look at the movement synergies of the characters before they choose them as team members.
Arc System Works has already developed titles under the Dragon Ball franchise. They include Dragon Ball Butoden and Dragon Ball Supersonic Warriors which were both made in 2D and released only on Nintendo handhelds. Dragon Ball Fighters will be the first video game that Arc System will develop for major consoles.
