HTC has finally confirmed that the HTC One with a Nexus user experience is real, on the way and will be available in the Google Play Store in a few weeks.
Ever since Google announced that it would begin selling a Nexus-like Galaxy S4, smartphone fans began expecting to see the same experience on the HTC One. HTC initially denied that it would offer an HTC One running stock Android but things have certainly changed since then, with the company announcing, Thursday, that it would offer an HTC One with a Nexus user experience.
HTC has posted the HTC One news on its HTC blog and said many reviewers love the HTC One because of its hardware and software, and it is now excited to offer HTC fans and admirers a brand new experience on what they believe is the best hardware available today (is Samsung listening?). The HTC One with a "Nexus user experience" will be a special edition smartphone that Google will begin selling through the Google Play Store from June 26 for $599.
Incidentally, June 26 happens to be the same day that the Samsung Galaxy S4 with a Nexus user experience will also go on sale for $649. It'll be interesting to see if Google ever announced which smartphone managed to sell more.
Just like the Galaxy S4 Google Edition, the HTC with 'Nexus user experience' will be available in the U.S. initially and sold unlocked with support to run on AT&T and T-Mobile's 4G LTE networks. The smartphone will ship with an unlocked bootloader and will have 32GB of internal storage available. HTC does not give any information on how certain aspects of the HTC One will work since some of its functions rely heavily on its HTC Sense 5 skin it runs on top of Android.
If you were a little bummed when Google only announced a Samsung Galaxy S4 with a "Nexus user experience", you can now feel a little better knowing that you'll be able to get the same experience on the HTC One. Let's just hope that HTC builds enough of them.
