HTC released its flagship smartphone, the HTC One, in April this year which has attracted many smartphone customers. The smartphone comes running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which has raised some eyebrows but now the international version of HTC One is getting the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update.
HTC One is one of the most popular smartphones around. Despite facing supply issues, the handset has sold over five million units worldwide within a month of its release. However, Samsung Galaxy S4, which was also released nearly around the same time as the HTC One, has sold over 10 million units globally within one month of release.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the first handset (apart from Nexus devices) which comes packed with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. And, now with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean landing on HTC One the rivalry between both the smartphones will increase more.
Even though just the international variant of the HTC One has started receiving the software update, it won't be too long that the U.S. carriers start rolling out the Jelly Bean update to their versions of HTC One. However, none of the U.S. carriers have announced their plans or tentative date when they will release the software update.
A Slash Gear report says, "Today it's appeared only on some international models of the HTC One with a bit of a boost to Sense 5.0 as well (without the name change). Right this minute it's just popping up on a select few models across the sea. "
The software update brings enhancements to the smartphone along with a minor update to HTC Sense 5.0. The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update will allow you to long press the homekey on the lower right of the handset and instead of getting Google Now, you'll get the menu key. Android DayDream and the ability to remove the docked icons will also be available with the update.
With the latest software update, you'll also be able to show the battery power level with a percentage indicator next to your battery icon.
