T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and HTC One get software update, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean still missing

Rumors of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean have been surfacing for quite some time now and many eager Android smartphone owners have been waiting for the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean to arrive on their handsets. Recently, T-Mobile (USA) started rolling out a minor update to its HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 but the much-awaited Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is still missing.

On June 3, the U.S. carrier started rolling out the software update to HTC One and Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which will be released to customers over-the-air (OTA) till June 16.

T-Mobile's HTC One software update has version number 1.27.531.8 and the software revision doesn't bring fixes for the camera. T-Mobile confirms that the software update improves the performance of Visual Voicemail.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on T-Mobile is getting software update version T889UVBMD1 and will bring security fixes and Smart Switch. The Smart Switch tool can be helpful if you are transferring content between Samsung devices. The software update for Galaxy Note 2 can be downloaded OTA or via Samsung Kies.

The recently-launched Samsung Galaxy S4 is the only smartphone (apart from Nexus devices) to come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. A recent report also indicates that some models of the HTC One's international version are also getting the software update.

Currently, U.S. carriers AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint are offering the HTC One. Verizon is yet to release its version of the latest HTC offering. A recent report suggests that the Verizon variant of the HTC One will come running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Full details of the software update for HTC One and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is available on T-Mobile's support website.

The HTC One is unquestionably one of the most-wanted smartphones currently available in the market and the Galaxy Note 2 is still one of the most popular bigger screen handset around. Customers owning either of the two handsets will be hoping to get the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update as soon as possible, but we have to wait until an official release is rolled out by the individual carriers in the U.S.
