Some models of the international version of the HTC One have already received the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update but a recent tweet from UK carrier, Three, indicates that the Taiwanese company has "pulled" the software release for the handset, albeit temporarily.
The HTC One is one of the most popular smartphones in the market and some analysts claim that the device, which boasts of a aluminum unibody design, is even better than Samsung Galaxy S4. However, the Galaxy S4 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the HTC One runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
Many HTC One users were expecting the company to release Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for their device but now it seems they may have to wait longer. In response to a question about the upcoming Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC One, the UK carrier Three tweeted "@2jof @ThreeUKSupport Hi, we've learnt HTC have just pulled the 4.2.2 release, we don't yet have a new schedule for this >Ros."
From Three's tweet, it seems that the software update for HTC One was not too far. The tweet also doesn't rule out the fact the HTC One will get a software update in the near future.
The software update will bring enhancements to HTC One along with a minor update to HTC Sense 5.0. The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update will allow the user to long press the homekey on the lower right of the handset and instead of getting Google Now, the user will get the menu key. With Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on HTC One, the user will also be able to show the battery power level with a percentage indicator next to the battery icon.
Currently, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is available only on Nexus devices, Samsung Galaxy S4 and a few international versions of the HTC One.
