Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega series in April this year, which included the 5.8-inch and the 6.3-inch versions of the phablet. According to rumors, the Korean company may soon launch the phablets in a new Plum Purple color.
Samsung usually launches its new handsets in only a few colors and then introduces more colors. The company launched the Galaxy S3 and the latest Galaxy S4 in only two color options, but later, bot the handsets got new colors, albeit some of them were region specific or carrier specific.
Similarly, it should not come as a surprise if both the phablets in the Galaxy Mega series get a new color. A SamMobile report suggests that the new color may be available in week 28 to week 30 this year i.e. in July.
At the launch of the Galaxy Mega series, Samsung announced the handsets in only two color options - black and white. It should come as good news to customers who find the existing colors a bit boring. With the increasing demand of phablets, Samsung may want to attract more customers to the Galaxy Mega phablets with a new color option.
"We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more," says JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT and Mobile Business, Samsung Electronics. "We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers' varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning GALAXY series."
The Galaxy Mega phablets packs in decent specifications but they may not attract customers looking for a top-end phablet like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. However, the screen size of the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 may attract many customers.
Samsung has not confirmed the new color for the Galaxy Mega phablets so we will have to wait until the company makes an official announcement.
