HTC One gets Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in India

The HTC Android flagship smartphone, the HTC One, has started receiving Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update in India.

HTC One released in April this year came running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Recently, select international models of the smartphone started receiving the latest Android update. Users in some European and Asian regions also received Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on their handsets.

The HTC One launch was overshadowed by delays and supply issues circling its camera components. Initially, the handset was expected to release in various markets in mid-March followed with an April release date for India.

"HTC One would hit the retail shelves in India by second half of April 2013, most probably between the third or last week of the month," said Manu Seth, Marketing Director, HTC India. However, the HTC One finally arrived in India in late May.

The handset packs in top-end features, which appeals to many smartphone enthusiasts and the arrival of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean may even attract customers more.

The software update is rolled out over-the-air in India and weighs 437MB bringing the firmware build to 2.24.707.3.

"Initially, HTC One will get a smaller update of 1.47MB that will prepare the device for the Android 4.2.2 update and once this is complete, the actual update will show up. Once the handset is done with the update users can notice a host of improvements including lock-screen widgets, performance enhancements, DayDream support and more," reports Know Your Mobile.

Like other software updates, the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean also brings along various enhancements and bug fixes to the HTC One. Following the update, you will get launcher bar enhancements, lock-screen widgets, home button options, new quick settings panel in notification shade, battery level in status bar, gallery app improvements and more.

Stateside customers will be eagerly waiting for their HTC One to receive the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. With regions throughout the world getting the latest update it seems that U.S. carriers should also get the software update soon.
