The Forza Motorsport series is one of the popular racing games in the gaming industry. However, with the advent of next-gen consoles, Xbox One users feared that they might need to upgrade their console.
However, that would not be the case if the next piece of information turns out to be true.
According to a recent report from Eurogamer, the next Forza Motorsport game, Forza Motorsport 8, has a high probability of coming to the Xbox One.
The game was previously confirmed to come on the Xbox Series consoles and the PC.
Forza Motorsport 8 Xbox One Rumors
According to Eurogamer's article, a post on the Reddit forum r/GamingLeaksAndRumors said that the game would be available on the Xbox One while posting pictures of the build for the platform, which were taken around July 2021.
According to the original poster, they were tired of people saying the game would only be playable on next-gen consoles, namely the Xbox Series X and S consoles and the PC. As such, they posted the pictures to prove otherwise. However, the pictures seem to not bear any identifying markers that can definitively confirm that the game was being tested on an Xbox One when the pictures were taken.

u/Zorpalweapon, the post's creator, seemed to have deleted their account sometime after it went up to the subreddit, per Dualshockers. Despite that, they verified the source of the screenshots with the subreddit's moderators before they deleted their account, marking the pictures legitimate, as stated by r/GamingLeaksAndRumors moderator, u/therabbidscot.

Forza Motorsport 8 Xbox One Version Concerns
Some people on the subreddit are worried about the game's status now that the screenshots gave the rumors of the game being playable on Xbox One a more solid foundation, which is a legitimate concern. A game that runs on only next-gen consoles, such as the Xbox Series consoles, in this case, would have better graphics than that of a game that runs on both next-gen and last-gen consoles, or the Xbox One.
You may remember that rumor that Game Rant covered regarding Overwatch 2 getting a graphics downgrade to support the game on mobile devices.
However, that doesn't deter other game developers from making lest-gen versions of their games. A good example is Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, a game that was released for the PlayStation 2 seven years after the PlayStation 3 came out in 2006. This game was released for the PlayStation 3 in September 2013 but came out for the PlayStation 2 later in November 2013.
This support is likely due to game developers still finding a significant amount of people playing on last-gen consoles, as Reddit user u/iesalnieks mentioned in the previously mentioned Reddit post.
This line of reasoning does have quite the foundation. Despite Microsoft's decision of discontinuing the production of its Xbox One console to focus on producing Xbox Series consoles, as The Verge reported, the former is still very much in use due to the semiconductor shortage plaguing the Xbox Series consoles' supply. However, that may soon change as Microsoft may have solved the problems involving the supply chain of its next-gen console, according to Tech Radar.
