New Nexus 7 goes up for pre-order in Australia, price starts at $299

Google recently launched the refreshed version of the Nexus 7 and the tablet is now up for pre-order in Australia at a starting price of $299.

Google launched the original Nexus 7 in collaboration with ASUS back in July 2012. The tablet was the first device to come packed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. On July 24 this year, Google announced the new, refreshed Nnexus 7, which will be the first device to come pre-loaded with the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.

The latest Nexus 7 has gone on pre-order from a local Australian retailer, but we don't know when the tablet will appear on the Google Play Store.

"PLE Computers lists all three Nexus 7 (2013) models and says the tablet will be launched by the end of August, without actually revealing a release date for the device. The Wi-Fi models retail for $299 (16GB) and $339 (32GB), while the 32GB LTE Nexus 7 (2013) costs $439. These prices are in Australian Dollars, which converted to U.S. dollars amount to: $269, $305 and $395, respectively," reports Android Authority.

The Android Authority report indicates that PLE Computers have three stores in Australia from where you can pick up your pre-ordered Nexus 7 free-of-charge on launch day. Moreover, the retailer will also ship the tablet anywhere in the country at an additional shipping charge, starting at $14.08.

Google has not confirmed the price of the latest version of Nexus 7 in Australia, so we don't know if the tablet will be available from the Google Play Store at the same price point as that of PLE Computers.

In the U.S., Best Buy started taking pre-orders for the tablet from July 24, the very date the tablet was officially announced. In the UK, the latest Nexus 7 is up for pre-order from various retailers and is expected to release on Sept. 13.

The original Nexus 7 attracted many customers looking to buy a 7-inch tablet. Google will be hoping that the refreshed Nexus 7 impresses customers and tech gurus alike.

If you are looking to buy a 7-inch tablet, the new Nexus 7 is definitely worthy for making one's shortlist.
