Recent rumors suggest that Sony is also planning to launch Honami Mini, which may support similar hardware specifications to the original Honami.
It seems that smartphone makers are getting compact versions of their handsets to attract a bigger customer base. Samsung has already launched the Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC has also revealed the compact HTC One Mini. Sony is expected to launch its next flagship, the Honami, and now rumors suggest that the Japanese company will also launch the compact Honami Mini soon.
Usually, the compact version a flagship smartphone doesn't feature top-end specs. However, rumors suggest that the Honami Mini will feature very similar hardware specifications to the Honami.
According to a user at the Esato.com forum, the Sony Honami Mini (codenamed Ray 3) will pack a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. The handset will have a 4.3 inch 720p TRILUMINOS display and will also include 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with the option to expand the memory via a micro SD slot.
Rumors also hint that the Honami Mini will come equipped with a whopping 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera with a 1/2.3″ sensor, f2.0 aperture size and a Sony G Lens, the same camera the original Honami is expected to feature.
Honami Mini is speculated to sport a 4.3-inch display, while the original Honami will have 5-inch display. A 2400mAh battery is expected to power the Honami Mini and rumors suggest that a bigger 3050mAh battery will be available on the full-sized Honami.
With the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS launched, smartphone customers will hope that both the Honami and the Honami Mini come pre-loaded with the latest Jelly Bean flavor.
A previously leaked Sony Honami teaser picture indicated that the Honami will launch on Sept. 4, the same date when Samsung is expected to launch the much-awaited Galaxy Note 3.
Sony has not confirmed any details on the upcoming handsets, so we will have to wait and see if the company launches both the Honami and the Honami Mini on Sept. 4, or if the compact version arrives at a later date.
