Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy Mega 6.3 in the U.S. and the device will be available in the country from AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular.
The Korean smartphone maker launched the Galaxy Mega series in April this year, introducing the massive Galaxy Mega 6.3 and the Galaxy Mega 5.8. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 has already reached several markets after its launch but it's taken a few months to reach the U.S.
"We continue to bring innovation with our Galaxy family of devices, with the Galaxy Mega representing a manifestation of consumer's enthusiasm for our thin, large screen designs," said Nick DiCarlo, vice president of product planning and marketing at Samsung Mobile. "The Galaxy Mega combines exceptional features from the Samsung Galaxy smartphone family with a 6.3-inch screen, making it an optimal device for movies, books, music and games."
The Galaxy Mega 6.3 gives its users the functionality of a tablet with the convenience and features of a smartphone. The device will be available in the U.S. in Nova Black and Polaris White color options. The company also announced that the device will be available from AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular starting this month, but individual carriers will confirm their own release dates and available colors.
Samsung will also sell the S-View Flip Cover, Flip Cover and Protective Cover + separately, which will be available in a variety of vibrant colors. Customers can buy the accessories to suit their personal taste and at the same time protect their devices from accidental damage.
The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is a budget phablet and includes decent hardware specifications. The handset features a 6.3-inch HD Super Clear LCD display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. A 1.7 GHz dual core CPU powers the device along with 1.5GB of RAM.
The handset will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. With the launch of the latest Android 4.3 version many customers would have hoped to get the latest Jelly Bean flavor on their device.
Phablets are gaining popularity in the smartphone arena and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will likely appeal to many Samsung fans.
