Google has now made it easier for people to keep themselves up to speed with their tasks and other stuff to do.
The California-based search giant recently announced that it is consolidating certain capabilities and features of Google Assistant and Google Calendar with Google Tasks to simplify how users remind themselves of their tasks for a day.
Google Assistant and Google Calendar are likely to remain operational after the merger of some of its features with Google Tasks, per Tech Crunch.
Google Tasks New Features And Capabilities
Google mentioned in a blog post that to simplify task management for people, it decided to migrate certain capabilities of Google Assistant and Calendar Reminders to Google Tasks.
To be specific, Google took Assistant and Calendar Reminders' capability to create and remind tasks for their users and put them in Google Tasks, consolidating their task management features into one app.
As a result, those who wish to use Google Assistant or Calendar to create or manage their reminders will receive a notification on the device they're using that invites them to use the new Google Tasks in the coming months, and Google promises that the switch is worth it.
The company mentioned that Google Tasks could sync people's reminders across their devices, allowing them to take their lists and reminders wherever they are.
They can also access the new Google Tasks using their preferred Google Workspace app, such as Gmail, Calendar, and Chat.
For example, people using Gmail can use the "Add to tasks" button to add an important email as a task to prevent it from being buried by incoming emails.
Additionally, people using Google Chat and Google Calender can create a task directly on the application, with Google Calendar's capability being more in-depth as it allows people to schedule when and at what time they need to do a task.
Finally, people can sort the tasks they made into lists to better organize and prioritize their duties and responsibilities. Doing so will let Google save them, helping people keep track of their progress in accomplishing their tasks anytime, anywhere.
Google also made it easier for people to create reminders through Google Assistant with the merger. People who wish to create a task for the Google Assistant to record directly into Google Tasks should only say something like "Hey, Google, remind me to call dad every Thursday at 6 PM."
Successfully giving this instruction or a similar one to Google Assistant will log the reminder directly to their Google Tasks and Google Calendar pages.
If they include a specific date and time for a reminder, Google Assistant will include those details to the task it created on Google Tasks and Google Calendar.
Other Google Workspace Apps With Reminders
Google Keep, another of Google's note-taking services, can also list down tasks and capture memos even by voice.
However, it seems Google has yet to consider if it should also consolidate Keep's features and capabilities to Tasks as well, as it isn't included in the upcoming integration.
