HTC One Max may launch on Oct. 17

A recent report suggests that the long-rumored HTC One Max may be unveiled on Oct. 17.

Rumors of the HTC One Max have been circling the technology market ever since the launch of the HTC One in April this year. A recent PhoneArena report suggested that the phablet was spotted at the Chinese equivalent of the FCC and is set for an Oct. 15 launch. A new report, however indicates that the smartphone will debut on Oct. 17 instead.

"HTC probably has a very good explanation for holding off the One Max's release, which hopefully doesn't involve financial or materials shortage problems. That said, the company seems to be taking its sweet time and is said to have scheduled the announcement of the HTC One Max on October 17, or sometime around that week. Better late than never, perhaps," reports Android Community.

Images and hardware specifications of the upcoming HTC One Max have emerged on a constant basis, but the company still remains silent on the existence of the device.

Rumors suggest that the HTC One Max will to sport a 5.9-inch display with a Full HD resolution. The handset is also speculated to tout a fingerprint sensor on the rear, which is currently available only on the recently-launched iPhone 5S. The HTC One Max is also expected to feature a high-resolution 4-megapixel UltraPixel rear-facing camera.

Some rumors indicate that the HTC One Max may include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which would be a step up from the Snapdragon 600 processor found on the HTC One. The phablet may have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space.

Most of the new handsets are launched with the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. However, Google has also unveiled Android 4.4 KitKat, which is expected to launch along with the Nexus 5 in early October. Customers will hope that the HTC One Max is one of the first Android smartphones (after Nexus devices) to get the latest software.

Two weeks still remain before Oct. 17 dawns on us, so we will have to wait until HTC officially confirms its plans to launch the HTC One Max.
