Meta Quest to Release New VR Game Titles: Assassin’s Creed, Stranger Things, Ghostbusters

Meta had just unveiled the latest version of its Meta Quest headset, just as Apple is rumored to do the same this June 5th for its WWDC event. Although, the former has also announced game titles that might just give it an edge compared to Apple's expected release.

VR Game Lineup

Given that the Assassin's Creed franchise already has a huge gaming fanbase, Meta Quest's announcement of a VR version of it could make a huge impact on sales. Titled Assassin's Creed Nexus VR, the game will be released in the Meta Quest Store.

However, aside from waiting for the release of the Quest 3 headset for better gameplay, there's still no clear date for a release. More details will be revealed by the franchise's developer during its event, Ubisoft Forward, on June 12th.

If you're a fan of "Stranger Things," you might also be glad to know that Meta is releasing a Stranger Things VR game as well, although you won't be playing as one of the protagonists in the show like El, Mike, Will, or the others.

Instead, you take on the role of Vecna, which is the main villain in the fourth season of the show. As mentioned by Engadget, you will be invading the dreams of the protagonists in the show and "harness telekinetic powers to possess minds."

The VR game developed by Tender Claws will also let you delve into the past of Vecna as Henry Creel, who was the villain's former self. You'll witness Henry's time at Hawkins Lab with Dr. Brenner. The good news is, it's also available in Meta Quest Pro and 2.

The "Ghostbusters" game titled Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is set to be released around the same time as the Meta Quest 3 headset. You will play the role of an actual ghost buster to save the city of San Francisco from the ghosts that haunt it.

The game's trailer shows the story of a villainous scientist named Gustav Hookfaber, which turns into the titular Ghost Lord. Just like in the movies, you'll have proton packs and other equipment to defeat the ghosts, and you may do so on your own or play co-op.

Meta Quest 3

The games mentioned may sound exciting, but you will need to get yourself a Meta Quest headset if you want to play them. If you already have the Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets, then you're good to go since most of the games a compatible with them.

However, the latest model of Meta's VR headset comes with performance and physical device enhancements, which might make all the difference in the gameplay. If you wish, you can purchase the 128GB headset for $499.99.

More information about the upcoming Meta Quest headset will be revealed at the Meta Connect event that will take place on September 27th, but the release date has already been announced, which Meta says will be this fall. That means you will have to wait a few months.
