Netflix saved another series after picking up "Star Trek: Prodigy" season two since the show has been canceled and deleted permanently by Paramount+.
'Star Trek: Prodigy' Gets Cancelled After Season One
"Star Trek: Prodigy" originally aired on Paramount+ in 2021. The series gained positive reviews and was even nominated for an Emmy. Hence, fans were utterly shocked when Paramount announced that the series would not push through with its second season.
Previously, Paramount has already greenlit its second season so it made sense that the series is already on its final touches before it gets released to the platform. However, Paramount's decision was beyond its cancelation. In fact, the series' old episodes from season one were all deleted from Paramount+.
The "Star Trek" franchise holds one of the biggest fandoms out there. Trekkers have been doing campaigns and have successfully brought back shows since the original series ended in the late '60s. Since then the fans have been able to bring back "Star Trek: The Animated Series" and "Star Trek: The Motion Picture."
Netflix Saves 'Star Trek: Prodigy' from Cancelation
The wonders of the big fandom won once again as Netflix announced that the streaming platform is picking up "Star Trek: Prodigy" for its second season. More than that, Netflix will also show the old episode from season one, making the platform a new home for the series.
Aside from that, Netflix will be extending help to put the final touches on the second season. The "Prodigy" will be the first "Star Trek" series that will air outside of the Paramount ecosystem.
"Star Trek: Prodigy" is set to premiere on Netflix by 2024.
