YouTube has introduced its own For You section to provide users their own personalized video recommendations based on their watch history.
The TikTok-like feature is expected to boost viewer engagement and enhance content discovery of other creators' channels. The feature is set to roll out on Nov. 20, Monday.
The streaming platform showed how the new feature will appear along with its announcement on X (formerly Twitter). The For You section will also be available on YouTube Studio app.
How to Access YouTube For You Section
Ahead of its release date, YouTube prepared users how to toggle the feature on and off.
Users can access the feature's availability and adjust settings through YouTube Studio by selecting the Customization tab and then opening the Layout options.
Upon inspection, users can filter out whether full-length videos, shorts, community posts, and livestreams would be displayed in the feature. Feature customization also include options to only show contents within certain time periods.
For new accounts and incognito users, the For You section will feature contents based on their location before adjusting to the watch histories.

Why are Social Media Apps Adapting the TikTok For You Page?
YouTube has hinted about the feature all the way back in May during one of its Creator Insider video.
The company's product manager, Ann Katrin Kuessner, said the new feature "will be especially effective if your channel has multiple topics, languages, or content formats."
This is the latest addition to other social media platforms adapting closer to TikTok-like features to achieve the company's runaway content on video contents, as CBC said.
Meta's Facebook and Instagram has seen the most changes as the social media giant catered more towards video creators, a decision that cause some users to be disappointed.
