Zoom Launches Personas, Spatial Zoom Experience

Previously, streaming sites like Disney+ had announced its exclusive spatial experience offer for Vision Pro users. Zoom also prepared the same thing by introducing Personas and Spatial Zoom experience.

Personas are like avatars that users will use to represent their authentic selves in Vision Pro. This will allow other meeting participants to see others' facial and hand movements during conference calls.

Meanwhile, the Spatial Zoom experience offers an immersive experience that could be scaled in real life, recreating the same room full of colleagues and customers. There is also no need to have any additional physical equipment or setup.

"The integration of Zoom on Apple Vision Pro and visionOS extends our platform promise of allowing participants the ultimate meeting experience from anywhere and delivers on our commitment of seamless collaboration and communication," Zoom chief product officer, Smita Hashim stated.

Aside from new features, Zoom will also debut 3D object sharing which is intended for people in the media and design industry. Users will be allowed to share 3D files and create collaboration works during meetings.

Meanwhile, real-world pinning will grant users to pin up to five Zoom Meeting participants anywhere in their physical space. They can also remove the background of the pinned participants and naturally position them through their field of view.

"Zoom on Apple Vision Pro helps teammates stay connected no matter when and where they work, or how they communicate and collaborate," Hashim added.

Personas and Spatial Zoom experience will be available to users upon download on February 2. Meanwhile, 3D object sharing, real-world pinning, and improved Zoom Team Chat will be released later in spring.
