Ghost of Tsushima is No Longer Available for PC Players in Non-PSN Countries

Sony doesn't seem to be having the best month when it comes to the PC gaming industry. After being forced to rescind its PSN requirement for Helldivers 2, the same issue has now affected another game exclusive that was set to be released for PC players.

Ghost of Tsushima Removed from PC Game Platforms

The samurai-centric game is a fairly popular title among PlayStation players, and the exclusive title has been praised for its story, gameplay, and aesthetics. PC players have been waiting patiently for the PC port, and just when it's close to their reach, the game is now being removed.

Fortunately for certain players in countries where PSN is available, the game will still be released as planned. However, Steam, Epic Games, and Green Man Gaming are already canceling pre-orders in non-PSN locations, which affects over 170 countries.

What's confusing for some is that the game can be played even without a PlayStation Network, and it has worked well for other Sony-exclusive games that have been released on PC such as God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, and more.

There is one aspect of the game that requires a PSN, which is the Legends multiplayer mode, as mentioned in The Verge. It is merely one small part of the game as opposed to the entirety, which is mostly playable without players linking their accounts.

Steam sent out a message to affected users, which said: "You are receiving a refund for a game you pre-purchased - Ghost of Tsushima. The publisher of this game is now requiring a secondary account to play portions of this game - and this account cannot be created from your country."

This might already be a familiar issue with some of the affected PC players, as another Sony-backed game has experienced this kind of requirement from the video game giant where a PSN account is involved.

Helldivers 2 Still Unavailable in Over 170 Countries

Seeing as Helldivers 2 is still unavailable in many countries, even after the PSN requirement has already been removed by Sony, it appears that Ghost of Tsushima won't be available to PC users any time soon.

Despite not winning the whole fight yet, PC players now know what kind of power they have over a huge company like Sony. A lot of players participated in the bombardment of negative reviews on Steam, which evidently caught the attention of the publisher.

From "overwhelmingly positive," the game dropped to the rating of "overwhelmingly negative" on Steam in just a couple of days. Now that Sony has folded, it's still unclear why Steam still has the game removed from the game platform.

One can hope that Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima will soon be available for PC, but it might not be as simple for the latter. The Japan-set game was a Sony exclusive first, as opposed to Helldivers 2 which had already been released for PC at the same time as the console port.
