In the gameplay trailer released during Xbox's annual Games Showcase, MGS publisher Konami unveiled the first look for Naked Snake and The Boss.

Aside from making the characters' design closer to their appearance in the last game, the remake noticeably retained the original audio and voice lines that made the original game iconic.

Although the trailer did not indicate a release date for the game, the more furbished look in the showcase compared to earlier teaser clips indicates that the game is nearing completion.

Metal Gear Solid Remake Receives Fresh New Stealth Gameplay

Character designs are not the only ones receiving much-needed upgrades in the remake. In the same trailer, old fans may also notice major changes in the game's stealth and takedown mechanics.

Reminiscent of the franchise's fifth installment, Naked Snake can now take down enemies in more creative and stealthy ways compared to the limited options available in the first game.

The dense forest of the Zanzibar Land will also offer players more options to blend and sneak through their surroundings as they infiltrate enemy camps and hunt for food and resources.

All of this is on top of more combat-enhanced action scenes found in the game as players are given free rein to find their way out of dangerous situations.

More Much-Awaited Installments Unveiled on Xbox Games Showcase

While the Metal Gear remake trailer was among the highlights of the event, the game is not the only title fans should anticipate in the coming months.

At the same event, the trailer for DOOM: Dark Ages was also unveiled, finally uncovering the story that led to the events of the 2016 DOOM remake and its critically acclaimed sequel, DOOM: Eternal.

This is in addition to Square Enix announcing a new Life is Strange game with the first installment's protagonist coming back to solve another murder mystery with her time-altering abilities.

Of course, there is also the cinematic reveal of the Perfect Dark reboot, reviving the old franchise back to modern players over 20 years after it first came out.
