'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Unveils Events for Season 2

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" showrunners Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne revealed some of the important events coming in Season 2.

The showrunners spilled some details at the San Diego Comic-Con weekend.

'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Sets on Sauron for Season 2

In an interview with IGN, McKay and Payne shared that the next season will focus on Sauron. Fans can expect to see Sauron's strategy to conquer Middle-earth through various techniques from manipulation to deception.

"And the scary thing about Sauron is that while a lot of villains will exploit your weaknesses, Sauron sees your strengths and exploits those to try to get his evil ends done," Payne added.

In the second season, the fans will finally see Sauron approach Celebrimdor as Annatar in disguise. He will try to manipulate the elven smith to create more Rings of Power. Aside from the elf, Sauron will also use other forms to lure other people into his evil plans.

The showrunners also hinted at some mysteries surrounding the first season. Fans looking forward to knowing who is The Stranger as many suggested that he could be Gandalf.

McKay and Payne did not disclose any specific information but the duo stated that it is a detail that they would intentionally try to throw off fans. Moreover, they also assured that such questions will be answered soon enough.

"He's landed in Middle-earth, he doesn't exactly know who he is, what his powers are, how to control his powers, and he has to figure all those things out. And we want fans to go on that journey with him," Payne detailed.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" Season 2 is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 29.
