Fortnite Now Available on iOS via Sideloading in EU—Here’s How to Install

Epic Games has made its grand return to iOS with Fortnite and its two other games now available to install on iPhones or iPads. However, this is only applicable to European Union (EU) member regions. It has been revealed by Epic Games that its games are now accessible on Apple devices in the EU through the Epic Games Store.

It is a third-party app marketplace that sideloads its applications and is only permitted via the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA)

This is undoubtedly good news for Fortnite fans in the EU and Epic Games has marked this joyous occasion with an announcement of its return to iOS. According to the company, this is still exclusive to the EU as Apple has blocked the company in other regions that do not have the same regulations like the DMA.

Despite this good news, the company has complained about the "poor-quality install experiences," which have required users to go through multiple steps in order to complete the installation. Sideloading has made it possible for Epic to come back as the Epic Games Store is available to download via browsers. However, it should be noted that it is not available for download on the Apple App Store.

Epic Games offers its three mobile apps in its return, with the most beloved battle royale, Fortnite, leading the selection. Other games from the company that are returning to the EU are Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe.

Before this comeback, Epic Games' developer account was initially removed and reinstated by Apple because of alleged violations, slightly delaying the process of Fortnite's awaited return.

How to Install Epic Games Store on iOS

The return of Fortnite and more of Epic Games' titles to iOS is not a straightforward case as it is not technically available in the Apple App Store but would have to be sideloaded. To help out players, Epic Games has released a step-by-step video on how to install the third-party app marketplace to get access to the three games.

First, go to Safari and search "epic.download." After that, tap on "Install on iOS." If this is your first time doing so, a prompt will tell you about app installation marketplace guidelines for iPhones. You will then be asked to enable this manually via Settings.

Head to Settings and look for the "Allow Apps from Epic Games Inc.," and choose "Allow" when prompted. Go back to Safari and then follow the instructions to install the Epic Games Store and the marketplace app when prompted.

How to Install Fortnite and Other Titles from Epic

After installing the Epic Games Store, it should appear on the Home page or via the App Library, and you may now access it to download your favorite titles like Fortnite, Fall Guys, or Rocket League Sideswipe

Installing these apps will result in individual prompts from iOS, which is more of a reconfirmation for the sideloaded game to be installed on the device.
