It is also the codename that Google previously used for the always-listening voice assistant for its in-car experiences. While it was not confirmed by Google, Kitt is also known to be an AI-powered car's name in the early 80s hit movie, Knight Rider.

It is known that Google has since integrated Assistant to Gemini, fusing its voice assistant and multimodal large-language model (LLM) for its different platforms like smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and smart home devices.

This was initially integrated with Google's Bard AI, which was later upgraded to the more capable model known as Gemini.
