Instagram Stories Get Comments Featurel, But Meta Limits It to Mutuals

The latest feature available on Instagram brings comments to Stories, and this lets users drop a message or reaction on the vertical posts. However, there are certain safeguards that Meta included in this latest feature drop as only the user's mutuals will get a chance to leave comments on a Story post.

Additionally, there are also other controls which are available on Instagram Stories' latest feature which can fine-tune the feature to match the user's preferences.

Instagram Stories Get Comments Feature

Users may now enjoy a more interactive time on Instagram even if they are only posting on Stories. Meta has now introduced a new Comments feature that will be available on Stories posted by users.

Through this latest introduction, users may now see comments added by friends or connections in their Stories, and these too will expire once the 24-hour period lapses. This serves as the latest addition to the features already available for Stories, such as reactions, replies, and sending Meta avatar reactions to users. 

Users can access the comments on their Stories by tapping the comments icon on the bottom left corner, which is similar to the Instagram post's comments symbol.

Safeguards for Stories Comments, Mutuals Only

According to Meta, Story comments on Instagram can only be seen by users who follow the user whose Stories they are viewing and vice versa. This is among the various safeguards Meta has added to the feature to avoid spam or trolls from flocking a user's account. 

Moreover, only mutual followers can publish comments on an Instagram Story, which will be visible for 24 hours. Instagram Stories will also let users turn Story comments on or off. 

Instagram's Stories and New Features

As  not all users are fond of creating posts that will show up on the feed or their accounts, Instagram Stories hsd since been an ideal way to share the recent happenings in their lives that will not show up as permanent posts. It was the first vertical-oriented media that Meta allowed on the platform, showcasing both images and videos before allowing text and other details. 

In addition to the Comments feature for Stories, another new and exciting feature available now on Instagram is the ability to create AI avatars that can represent users whenever interacting with others online. The company has also focused on generative artificial intelligence (AI), which gave creators a chance to respond to fans or followers accordingly conveniently and without hassle.
