Spotify AI Playlist is Expanding to 4 More Countries Under Beta Testing Phase

Despite not launching in the United States when Spotify first debuted AI Playlist, the Swedish music streaming platform is now branching out to other countries and territories to deliver the experience. This latest rollout will bring AI Playlists to four more countries. It will remain remain exclusive to Spotify's mobile app versions, including iOS and Android.

It is important to note that while this extends the capabilities of AI Playlists, it is still under its beta testing phase.

Spotify AI Playlist is Expanding to Four More Countries

In a new press release from Spotify, the company has announced that it is expanding its AI Playlist beta to four more countries after officially rolling it out earlier this April. Initially, Spotify released generative artificial intelligence (AI) to two countries only, which are United Kingdom and Australia.

The latest update now brings Spotify's AI Playlist to the United States, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. It is important to note that only users under its Premium subscription will be able to access the new feature. Moreover, it will not be available for the web version of its music player as it remains limited to Android and iOS.

Here's What Spotify's AI Playlist Brings in its Beta

According to Spotify, its AI Playlist delivers a mix of both generative AI and "personalization technology" that rely on user prompts and their listening activity to craft the collection that best matches their preferences. It has also been revealed by the company that it would not matter if users are new or are used to creating these playlists as the AI will assist in delivering a curated mix for users.

Moreover, Spotify has also siad that the AI Playlist will also factor in new artists who are streaming their work on the platform, offering a gateway to discovering fresh music.

To date, its rollout in Australia and the U.K. have already seen millions of song mixes generated under its AI Playlist Beta.

Spotify Embraces Generative AI

The Swedish streaming platform may have gone against generative AI during the latter's early days because of the many AI-generated songs uploaded to the platform, but it was not all against the technology. In fact, one of its earlier moves towards adopting AI was to lay off some of its staff.

Amidst all of these, Spotify began rolling out its AI Playlists among selected users, which was speculated to be a part of its alpha testing phase, and delivered a nifty way of creating new collections for users.

In addition, Spotify also launched its AI DJs, which are multi-lingual, and they emulate how real-life radio DJs work by engaging with their listeners and going as far as segueing to the next songs to play.

The good thing is AI is being put to the user's advantage, which allows them to explore more songs and easily create playlists using Spotify's machine-learning model.
