iPhone 6 to launch on Sept. 19 in 32GB and 64GB versions – No 16GB model?

The next-generation iPhone 6 will reportedly make its debut on Friday, Sept. 19, if a new report out of China turns out to be accurate.

The Friday launch day would fall in line with the company's previous launches, as Apple likes to release devices on a Friday in order to give consumers a full weekend to learn all there is to know about the new gadget.

This very specific launch date comes from Chinese web portal Tencent (via GforGames), which claims to have obtained this information from inside sources familiar with the matter. It's worth pointing out that German carrier Deutsche Telekom has reportedly informed its customers of a similar iPhone 6 launch date, according to BGR.

The iPhone 6 is widely expected to come in two large-screen models, one with a 4.7-inch panel and the other with a more massive 5.5-inch display. The 4.7-inch model is expected to debut first, in September, while the iPhablet would follow at a later date.

The new report out of China further claims that Apple will launch the iPhone 6 in 32GB and 64GB internal storage capacities, which may mean that a 16GB model will not be available. The 32GB model will reportedly cost 5,288 yuan ($846), while the higher-capacity 64GB version would come in at $1,008.By comparison, the current iPhone 5S comes at $5,288 yuan in a 16GB storage option and 6,088 for 32GB.

Apple launched its last two iPhone iterations in September, which makes it very likely for the iPhone 6 to debut the same month this year. While some reports claimed that the 5.5-inch model would arrive at a later date, a recent Bloomberg report revealed that both the 4.7- and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 variants may launch at the same time. This could mean that September will be a big month for Apple, with two new iPhone 6 models ready to hit the market.

In addition to a notably larger display, the next-generation iPhone 6 is also expected to pack a faster Apple A8 processor, a thinner design, wireless charging capabilities, NFC, an improved camera, and more.

None of this is confirmed at this point, however, so take all such reports with a hefty grain of salt.
