The new Moto X is apparently ready to hit Verizon Wireless very soon, if a newly-leaked document turns out to be accurate.
Motorola recently released its new Moto X with impressive improvements on board compared to its predecessor, the original Moto X. While the first-generation drew attention due to its unprecedented customization options, but packed mid-range specifications, the new Moto X boasts notable upgrades on all fronts. It comes with a better and larger display, a faster processor, and many other neat improvements.
It now looks like Verizon Wireless customers don't have much of a wait if they want to get the new Moto X from the carrier, as the latest leak now reveals that the smartphone is slated to join Big Red's lineup as soon as this week, on Sept. 26. Moreover, Verizon also seems to be planning a special offer for the new Moto X, aiming to entice potential buyers with a promotional price tag.
The news comes from Phandroid, which managed to obtain an internal document that reveals neat details about the new Moto X launch on Verizon. According to the report, the new Moto X will cost $99.99 for the 16GB variant on a two-year contract, or $24.99 with the Verizon EDGE program.
As part of a launch promotion, Verizon will reportedly offer the wood option for free. More specifically, interested customers will be able to choose a model with a bamboo rear cover for the same $99.99 price on contract, or for $27.49 with Verizon EDGE. This offer will come in the form of a limited-time deal set to expire on Oct. 10. In addition, customers will also be able to customize their Moto X through the Moto Maker tool.
Personalized variants of the new Moto X will sport the same price tag as the black model of the smartphone, while the 32GB version will come with a $149.99 price tag with a two-year contract or $27.49 with Verizon EDGE.
The new Moto X has also gone on sale from AT&T, and Motorola is also offering a Pure Edition of the smartphone for those who don't want any carrier ties whatsoever. The Moto X Pure Edition comes unlocked and SIM-free.
As a reminder, the new Moto X has a 5.2-inch OLED display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, HSPA+, and GPS. A 2,300 mAh battery will keep things up and running, while Android 4.4.4 KitKat will rock the software side.
It's worth pointing out, however, that Verizon has made no official announcement so far in regards to the new Moto X's launch on its network, which means that it all remains in the rumor state for now. As always in such cases, take this leak with a grain of salt.
