The Xiaomi Redmi 2S stars in a recent AnTuTu benchmark listing, revealing some of its specifications ahead of the official unveiling.
Xiaomi has proved to be a rising force so far, with each of its devices enjoying tremendous success and selling out in no time. Dubbed the "Apple of China," Xiaomi makes devices with good specifications and affordable price tags, and continues to grow as a company and expand its horizons.
Just recently word came out that a successor to the Xiaomi Redmi 1S was in the works, as it received certification from China's TENAA (the country's equivalent of the FCC) earlier this month. The purported handset has now surfaced in the AnTuTu benchmark database with some intriguing specifications on board, completing the picture painted by the TENAA listing.
More specifically, earlier this month the appearance on TENAA revealed that the Xiaomi Redmi 2S would sport a slight redesign with the LED flash and speaker grill relocated to the back of the phone, as well as redesigned capacitive keys.
The AnTuTu benchmark now offers more details regarding the Xiaomi Redmi 2S, revealing that it will sport a 4.7-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, meanwhile, the handset was expected to pack a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, and AnTuTu now lists a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC. This marks a neat improvement over the previous Xiaomi Redmi 1S, which came with a Snapdragon 400 CPU and no 4G LTE support.
At the same time, while the Xiaomi Redmi 1S came with Adreno 305 graphics, the Redmi 2S will apparently come with an improved Adreno 306 graphics processing unit (GPU), which should translate to a nice improvement. In the RAM department the Redmi 2S doesn't seem to sport any bumps over its predecessor, as it still packs 1GB of RAM. When it comes to camera, the new iteration will come with an 8-megapixel rear sensor and a 2-megapixel front shooter.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2S is further expected to offer 8GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB, and a 2,200 mAh battery to keep things going. On the software side, the smartphone will reportedly launch with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.
The handset is expected to arrive in a range of color options, including black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. No information is currently available regarding the Xiaomi Redmi 2S launch date, pricing, or availability, but the TENAA certification earlier this month and the new AnTuTu benchmark suggests that it should make an imminent debut. We'll return with more information as soon as it becomes available, so check back.
