LG is expected to unveil a new curved-display smartphone at CES 2015 and a poster for the purported LG G Flex 2 has already been spotted.
Curved-display smartphones may not have seen a very wide adoption so far, but they are nonetheless part of a seemingly growing trend. Last year, LG unveiled its first smartphone with a curved screen and body in the form of the LG G Flex. The handset drew lots of interest due to its intriguing form factor, good specifications, as well as a neat self-healing ability that allows the handset to automatically recover from small scratches and scuffs that normally occur with daily use.
Recent rumors have indicated that a new LG G Flex 2 was en route, ready to debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015. The company has yet to offer official details in this regards, but The Verge has spotted a promotional poster for the smartphone's unveiling at CES in Las Vegas.
It remains unclear at this point just what specifications the new LG G Flex 2 will have to offer, but is expected to pack a new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Just recently, Qualcomm touted one of its latest chips set to debut at CES and the teaser featured an image of an LG handset shown from its rear, believed to be the G Flex 2.
Judging by LG's new poster at CES, the LG G Flex 2 seems to be quite similar to the original G Flex in terms of overall design. It does, however, sport a new logo and the front, and the device also seems reminiscent of the recently-launched LG L Bello and L Fino handsets that have more square-ish corners. When it comes to the curvature itself, the LG G Flex 2 doesn't seem to be significantly more curved than last year's model.
The new-generation LG G Flex 2 is expected to boast notably better specs compared to its predecessor, and retain the self-healing property that drew so much attention. Recent rumors have also suggested that it will sport a more compact form factor compared to its predecessor's 6-inch display, but nothing is confirmed at this point.
In fact, it's all still shrouded in mystery for now, but the LG G Flex 2 should make its official debut very soon. CES 2015 officially kicks off on Jan. 6 in Las Vegas, and runs through Jan. 9. LG is rumored to unveil its new G Flex 2 at a pre-CES press event on Jan. 5, and we'll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available.
