A placeholder on Vodafone's website seemingly confirms the existence of the Samsung Galaxy S Edge, expected to come as the curved-display variant of the next-generation Galaxy S6.
Rumors of a curved-display version of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 have been making rounds for a good while now, although it remains unclear whether the two handsets would launch at the same time.
When Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Note 4 flagship phablet in 2014, it also introduced an intriguing Galaxy Note Edge counterpart with a functional curved display. The Galaxy S6 Edge rumored for this year is expected to have a similar display to the Galaxy Note Edge, albeit it may have a double-edge screen rather than just one side, as the Note Edge (seen in the image above).
The Galaxy S Edge, or S6 Edge, is also rumored to feature several improvements on all fronts compared to the Galaxy Note Edge, as Samsung perfects the technology. At one point, some reports claimed that Samsung would no longer launch a Galaxy S6 Edge model afer all, but subsequent reports continued to expect the curved-display variant to launch alongside the flagship Galaxy S6.
It now seems that we have some confirmation of the Galaxy S6 Edge's existence, although it's not officially from Samsung. As the folks over at Dutch site Galaxy Club pointed out, Vodafone Netherlands has posted a new placeholder page for the Galaxy S6. While at first the page in question doesn't seem to reveal much, a closer look at the source code shows a developer note, which mentions that a "pre-order page for Samsung Galaxy S Edge" must be added in the future.
It's worth pointing out that this may give precious hints regarding the arrival of an Edge version of the Galaxy S6, but it's still just a placeholder page. This means that it's neither an official confirmation nor a guarantee, as the note could simply be based on expectations rather that formal confirmation from Samsung.
No additional evidence or information is available at this point regarding this purported Galaxy S Edge, or S6 Edge, but more details will likely surface shortly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, but take everything with a grain of salt for now.
