Microsoft reportedly has two high-end Lumia smartphones in the pipeline, ready to debut with the latest Windows 10 out of the box later this year.
The highly-anticipated Windows 10 will roll out for desktop, laptop, and tablet computers this summer, after which it will start reaching phones. Microsoft has unveiled a few Windows 10-ready phones already, but for now the company has focused on budget-friendly handsets with modest specifications. At the same time, Microsoft has yet to announce a smartphone with Windows 10 out of the box.
Nevertheless, Microsoft is expected to launch at least one high-end flagship in the second half of this year, and more information has now surfaced in this regards. If the latest rumors turn out to be accurate, Microsoft will release not one, but two high-end smartphones with Windows 10 on board out of the box.
In an exclusive new report, Unleash the Phones claims that Microsoft will launch two high-end Lumias this year, and the two devices are currently codenamed Cityman and Talkman, respectively. In a separate report, The Verge confirms that the codenames are accurate.
The two reports further detail the two smartphones' main specifications, trying to paint a picture of what to expect.
The upcoming Lumia codenamed Cityman will reportedly boast a 5.7-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and pack an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under the hood, paired with 3GB of RAM. Other reported specs include a 20-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, a 3,330 mAh removable battery, a removable rear cover, and a microSD card slot for additional storage. This handset will reportedly support the recently-touted Continuum for Phones feature, which will allow users to turn their smartphone into a PC by connecting it to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
The other high-end Lumia codenamed Talkman, meanwhile, will reportedly feature a 5.2-inch display with the same QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 as the Cityman, but pack a hexa-core (six cores) processor under the hood. Other specs include 3GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,000 mAh removable battery. Microsoft is reportedly trying to keep the Talkman handset "much slimmer" than the Lumia 930, according to Unleash the Phones.
Both of these upcoming Lumia models are further expected to rock a triple-LED flash "to support different tones for photos," The Verge notes.
No information is currently available regarding when these handsets will make their official debut, but we'll keep you up to date as soon as more details come to light. In the meantime, make sure to take all leaks and rumors with a grain of salt.
