Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (Wi-Fi) now at its lowest price ever

The premium Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is now on sale at its lowest price ever, as Amazon and Newegg are now selling the tablet for just $279.00.

The retailers are offering the Wi-Fi-only version of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, with the LTE model currently sporting a price tag of $400 on Amazon.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (Wi-Fi) tablet sports an 8.4-inch AMOLED screen with a high QHD resolution and packs an octa-core Exynos processor under the hood, paired with 3GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory, an 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash, and a large 4,900 mAh battery to keep things up and running. The slate ships with the older Android 4.4 KitKat on board out of the box, but an OTA update to Lollipop should become available as soon as you turn it on. In terms of color options, the tablet is available in white or bronze (gold).

At $279, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is significantly cheaper than the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), which is why both Amazon and Newegg are only showing the price when you add the item to cart.

"Because our price on this item is lower than the manufacturer's suggested retail price, the manufacturer does not allow us to show you our price until you place the item in your shopping cart. Retailers like Amazon have the legal right to set their own prices independently. Adding the item to your cart allows Amazon to show you our price consistent with our goal of always offering you the lowest possible prices on the widest selection of products," Amazon explains.

"Adding this item won't require you to purchase the product. You can easily remove it from your cart if you decide not to buy it."

Both Amazon and Newegg are also offering free shipping for the tablet. For more details or to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 at just $279, find the tablet on Amazon here and on Newegg at this link. Other retailers such as Best Buy may follow suit and drop the price of the slate as well. Best Buy had a similar promotion back in April, selling the tablet for $279.99 on Verizon or AT&T, and now it's offering it for $299.99.
