"Dark Souls 3" conquered NPD's April sales chart as the highest-selling video game in the U.S. retail. Well, with how popular the game is, this does not truly come as a surprise.
According to Eurogamer, Liam Callahan from the notable market research company said that FromSoftware's titular action role-playing game has peaked its sales, nearly doubling that of the second instalment from the "Dark Souls" franchise.
It holds true, though, as Bandai Namco recently revealed that it has shipped a total of 3 million copies of "Dark Souls 3" worldwide in just one month. Earning the first-runner up place is Insomniac Game's "Ratchet & Clank."
Not fortunate enough to make it to the top is Remedy Entertainment's "Quantum Break" for both PC and Xbox One. The third-person shooter action-adventure game only managed to acquire the seventh spot. It should be noted that Microsoft previously claimed the game to be the best-selling new IP in Xbox One, moving apart from Insomniac's "Sunset Overdrive."
Callahan also mentioned about the steady growth of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as the two well-known consoles are trending around 40 percent higher in terms of cumulative sales, according to VG247. The percentage was achieved reportedly after 30 months of existing in the market.
Although the hardware sales have greatly plummeted down at 23 percent since April of last year, the cumulative figures of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, however, are still impressive.
Taking the ninth and 10th spots on the list are the Nintendo 3DS-exclusive "Bravely Default: Second Layer" and Wii U console-exclusive "Pokken Tournament," respectively. "Tom Clancy's The Division" arrived at the fourth spot, while "Grand Theft Auto V" took the fifth place.
Also on the top 10 NPD sales chart are "MLB 16: The Show" (third place) "Minecraft" (sixth place), "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" (eighth place), "NBA 2k16(ninth place) and "Star Fox: Zero" (10th place).
If "Dark Souls 3" will indeed be the last series in the franchise, then it surely ended with a huge bang. It only confirms how strong the launching of "Dark Souls 3" is.
