Square Enix has launched a new "Kingdom Hearts" trailer today, and it's not "Kingdom Hearts 3".
A new trailer for "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" is revealed today. The three-minute clip shows the fans what they should expect from the game when it launches toward the end of this year.
The game, which Endgadget reports as "part remaster, part compilation", will include an HD version of "Dream Drop Distance", which was originally launched on the Nintendo 3DS, and two new chapters, "Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover" and "Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth By Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage".
As with all remasters, "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" will also include a 3D movie, "Back Cover", which will hopefully shed light on the already convoluted "Kingdom Hearts" storyline, Endgadget reports. "Back Cover" will feature a mysterious group called the "Fortellers", and is supposedly linked to the recently launched mobile game "Kingdom Hearts Unchained X".
Aqua, one of the first Keyblade wielders, is the main focus on "A Fragmentary Passage". The trailer showcases Aqua's battle against the Heartless, and will serve as an important primer for the much anticipated "Kingdom Hearts 3", according to Polygon.
Square Enix said on a press release that "A Fragmentary Passage" will feature next-generation graphics, according to TechnoBuffalo. Kotaku has also noticed this, reporting that Aqua looks amazing in the "Kingdom Hearts 3" engine.
At the end of the video, the "Kingdom Hearts 3" logo was shown, along with the caption "upcoming announcements this winter". TechnoBuffalo speculates that while "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" will be at this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo, or E3, there is a slim chance that "Kingdom Hearts 3" would actually make an appearance. Fans might not even hear any "Kingdom Hearts 3" news until later this year.
"Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" will be launched worldwide in December 2016 on the PlayStation 4.
