Season three of "Wayward Pines" has not yet been confirmed. Until now, speculations allege that the network hasn't decided yet on its renewal. However, the producer of the series has already spilled the beans on what the third season will be like if and when it becomes reality.
"Wayward Pines" executive producer Blake Crouch has said that he initially planned for the series to run for three seasons, as it was originally meant to last that long. The storyline could only be covered that long to settle all that is meant to be tackled. According to Parent Herald, Blake said that they did come up with a three-season arc for the show.
If they could get the chance, they would conclude the series by its third season. If it does come to light, the viewers will be able to know what happens to the human race after they have been put into sleep during the finale of the second season.
In addition to that, information on the Abbies will also be tackled since the second season also ended with the birth of an Abbie, which looks a lot like a human. The last season ended in a cliffhanger, which made fans believe a third season of "Wayward Pines" is definitely necessary. The third season will provide the answers to questions that have been asked throughout the course of the series.
Game and Guide reported that the second season finale episode reached up to 2.3 million viewers and the 0.7 ratings of the show allegedly led the series to get a positive response. Since it has clearly garnered positive feedback from the viewers, fans are anticipating that the third season will get greenlighted.
According to Fox CEO Dana Walden, the network is still weighing on the future of "Wayward Pines."
