Sony To Unveil PS4 Neo At PlayStation Meeting; Launch Not Happening

PS4 Neo is without a doubt a highly anticipated gaming console from Sony. And for sure, lots of gamers have been so eager to lay their eyes upon it. With the company's upcoming PlayStation meeting next month, many believe that the aforesaid console will finally be unveiled. Either way, will that also be the day of its launching? Most likely not.

According to VICE Gaming, Sony has started giving out invites to press members as well as the gaming community. It was specifically done for the company's scheduled PlayStation meeting, an event in which PS4 Neo is believed to be unveiled. It will be held on September 7 at 3 PM in the PlayStation Theater located in New York.

The said event is believed to be the day of the big PS4 Neo reveal. There, the tech giant will finally give the public the chance to have a look-see at the upcoming console. And if it indeed happens, the console's features as well as its official release date are likely to be confirmed.

While the PlayStation meeting is a suitable event for PS4 Neo to be revealed, it will not be launched on that date. So, in one way or another, the waiting game continues. But nonetheless, as mentioned, there is a chance that the company might as well announce the next-gen console's official release date during the said meeting.

Ars Technica, on the other hand, notes that PS4 Neo - contrary to popular belief - will be equipped with features far better than its predecessors. The console's CPU is said to boast an 8 Jaguar Cores (2.1 GHz), partnered with an improved GPU (AMD GCN) and 36 CUs (911 MHz). As for its memory, it will have 8 GB GDDR5 218 GB/s.

PS4 Neo's main goal is to run 4K games smoothly, something that most gamers are looking forward to. Apart from that, the console is expected to support games that run at 1080p. The one thing that remains unclear, though, is if it has 4K Blu-Ray Drive, a feature that Xbox One S will sport.
