'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Series Finale News: Damon Salvatore Dies; Stelena Reunion Possible With Nina Dobrev Cameo Return

There have been countless speculations going around with regards to Nina Dobrev's comeback on "The Vampire Diaries" for its series finale. There is also a possibility of a 60-year time jump for its end, find out why.

Arguments have occurred with regards to the speculations that actress Nina Dobrev might come back to "The Vampire Diaries" series so that her character's story is complete as the show is coming to its end. However, reports claim that Ian Somerhalder, portraying the role of Damon, does not want a reunion with Nina's character, Elena Gilbert.

Stelena Reunion Now Possible?

Rumors of Nina Dobrev's return has led to the assumptions that Damon will not last until the end of the season and Elena comes back to reunite with Stefan Salvatore, portrayed by Paul Wesley.

It can be recalled during the finale of the seventh season that Damon was tricked to getting inside a vault and got trapped there. Since there are speculations that Ian is not coming back for season 8, fans have assumed he may not be able to escape the trap. This is to give way for a "Stelena" reunion, since as all the fans may know that Stefan has always been Elena's first love.

60-Year Time Jump For Its Finale Episode

There have also been reports of a 60-year time jump for its series finale. This will show Bonnie (Kat Graham) living her life to the fullest until she's old and then Elena could wake up. The two characters have been linked prior to Dobrev's exit on the show, saying that if Elena wakes up then Bonnie will die, according to Inquisitr. This has been the only logical explanation for the fans and the only way to bring Elena back in the picture without harming Bonnie.

The producers of "The Vampire Diaries" have not confirmed anything with regards to the 60-year time jump, and so it all remains a theory. Some of the fans are also hoping for a crossover with "The Originals," however it has been deemed impossible due to the fact that both shows are now running at a different timeline.
