'Pokemon Go' Tip: How To Locate Pokemon Nests

Pokemon nests in Pokemon Go are actually areas where Pokemon repeatedly appear every 10 minutes, hourly, a few hours, or daily. Take note that these areas do not spawn most of these we already ignore like Pidgey, Rattata, Zubat since we treat them now as nuisance and are a waste of Pokeballs - which I would personally disagree, click here to read why.

You cannot see a Pokemon Nest on the map, though these green confetti-like things popping up from the ground, also known as 'rustling grass', seem to be good indicators of such. Note that these do not include rare Pokemon, as they are observed to pop out of anywhere by random - or what we think as random but I bet they are pre-programmed somewhere and no one has got into the details yet.

IGN reports that users have been noticing a pattern about Pokemon Nests spawning 'new' Pokemon, that didn't pop up before the 1.5.0/0.35.0 update.

To summarize, a Pokemon nest is:

  • An area where Pokemon spawn in a noticeable interval
  • An area that does not spawn common Pokemon, i.e. Rattata, Zubat, Pidgey, Weedle

So, if you happen to observe the two bullet points above, take note of these areas, remember to visit them often because every version update in Pokemon Go will add a bunch of Pokemon in that area to spawn.
